During the director’s time at Celador Productions many formats were created which were successful not only in the UK but in territories across the globe. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was of course the most successful, with license agreements in 107 countries. However other formats created by the Directors of Boxatricks were also hits in the UK and elsewhere: Britain’s Brainiest (successful format in the UK aired in 15 territories worldwide generating gross format income of £3.5 Million to date);
The People Versus (more than 100 episodes aired in prime-time and daytime on ITV1 plus successful sales to several overseas territories) and Winning Lines (ran for six series on Saturday nights on BBC1 and successfully sold to CBS in the USA). – All formats created and developed by Celador are continuing to bring in substantial revenue from international licensing.
Since the sale in 2006 of Celador’s Rights Division (CIL) for a staggering £106 million and subsequently to Sony in 2008, the team has continued to create its own formats and develop others with third parties many of which are now ready to be launched into the market both here in the UK as well as into overseas territories. Due to their past success the team has built a reputation for devising original, well-developed, winning formats.
